ABOUT THIS COLLECTION
Part of MUSING.
a small group exhibit–

at D’art 360 gallery.
This body of work explores still life as an invitation to pause and appreciate. You know when you’re amid the mundane—the mess, the rush, the day-to-day routine—and then you turn the corner and see a little scene or moment, like your husband and kids making breakfast together or the way a flower is drooping just so in the golden light—and it reminds you, wow, life is f*cking beautiful. It catches you by surprise because life is also hard and often, we’re all moving too fast or plowing along with our heads down. So, that’s what this series is all about, in the midst of it all, savoring these moments as relics of life… of love, of care, of celebration, of relaxation, of community.
Painted in a somewhat off-kilter expressive abstraction, it gives these daily scenes a new perspective. Plus, I like things a bit awkward, even “ugly,” so I’ve sprinkled a little bit of that grit across these pieces too through texture, scraping, mark making, and color choices.
I hope these pieces also invite you to relish the imperfect beauty in living.
