iSCREAM >> a fun new abstract series

Not everything has to mean something, and I'm OK with that.
I am often asked about the content in my abstract pieces in a few well-meaning ways:
"Oh, but what is it actually?"
"But REALLY what is it supposed to be?"
"I think I see a bird [or insert any other animal, shape, or thing] there. Its a bird right?"
"NOW I get it. Ok, now I like that. I see the flower. But the other painting... I can't figure out what it is yet."
I just take it all in and honestly do not take offense because it means viewers are engaging with my art. And that in itself is a compliment.
It sheds light on our human nature to decode the abstract and translate it into the tangible - to solve, and ultimately compartmentalize - allowing us to make judgement.
But dare I say that I believe sometimes the point is that there is no point.
I know what you're thinking. How "glass half empty" of you. How meaningless. What a pity.
I believe the contrary.
The idea that something JUST IS brings me peace and insight into the randomness of this life we're all trying to navigate.
For my new series I wanted to explore this thought.
>> The point is there is no point. You may try to find representative shapes or figures, but rest assured that there is nothing defined. You'll only see what is already written on your soul. <<
I felt the urge to create simply for the sake of creating. And, in turn, hope to give you permission to simply feel, and expect nothing more.

BERRY BLISS

SALTY MANGO

CHERRY CORDIAL

PISTACHIO HONEY
This series is a study on color relationships and texture play, and the mood and emotions they evoke.
Each piece is inspired by occasional (ok, nightly) bowl of ice cream. Yes, I am the most kid-like adult you'll meet when it comes to sugar consumption. The restrained chalky hues with the occasional punch of unexpected color and texture intrigued me enough to bring it to life on canvas. The process and result were the exact "fun" series I yearned for, and I truly hope you enjoy!
